A wicked man who you probably wouldn’t want to marry your daughter
Herod got mad at the people of Tyre and Sidon
They pleaded for peace cuz they wasn’t tryin to fight him
Not trying to beef but striving for peace
They were under Roman yoke so they still desired to eat
People liked his decrees, he got up high on a seat
To address the people because he was writing a speech
He (Herod) gave an oration of perfect duration
And after his statements got a standing ovation
The crowds kept yelling, “this is the voice of a god”
But boy they were wrong because he surely was flawed
Herod was struck by an angel he’s breathing his last
His body cut like a bagel, he’s defeated and smashed
Don’t be repeating his path, but please flee from the wrath
He deceased it was fast, and if you’re needing to ask
“How come?”, it’s cause he was robbin God’s glory
Cuz he was acting like Kobe, when he’s Robert Horry (uhhh)
Humility he was needing to learn
His pride was futility his body was eaten by worms
So what’s the lesson? It’s believe and then turn
To Jesus, and be urgent cause that heat it will burn
Herod thought the credit was really all mine
So God put him to death cuz He was stealing His shine

Second Verse

Nebuchadnezzar was a blasphemous fool his actions were bold
He was passing some rules about a statue of gold
You refused to bow and you weren’t trying to worship
Then you got cast into the burning fiery furnace
Three Hebrews tossed in, these young guys didn’t deserve this
No ice or a Thermos so why aren’t they nervous?
The boys untouched by the flames, now Neb is in awe
He realized this act came from the power of God
But then he’s boasting in self thinking he’s the smartest
He would show off his wealth, but then his kingdom is departed
He thought Babylon was the glory of his majesty
But he was sadly wrong cause the story is a tragedy
God makes his dwelling with the beasts of the field
He’s needing to yield to God, so He sees that he kneels
And he acts like a fox or a beast or an animal
Eating grass like an ox without reading the manual
He gazed through his lenses then his reason returned
And he came to his senses now he seeks and he yearns
To bless the most high and his immaculate kingdom
Because His dominion’s an everlasting dominion
I was talking like a fool, or a donkey or a mule
But now I realize that He is sovereign and He rules
Neb’s kingdom is restored, now he listens to the Lord
God had to humble him, and now His wisdom he adores!!

So we saw the consequences of Herod and Nebuchadnezzar robbing God’s glory. Let’s take a look at the story of Saul of Tarsus (beat changes)





Third Verse

This is the story of Saul of Taurus the robber (check it)
When it came to righteousness the Jews called him a father
Seen as fervent in wisdom and murdering Christians
He’s earnest to kill em, even murking the children (brutal)
If you’re following the Way, then Saul was gonna slay
At all hours of the day, cuz he thought it was ok
Saul was known as the leader of persecution
And at the stoning of Stephen he was approving (STONE HIM!)
When it came to killing Christians, no one surpassed this
He was going the fastest on the road to Damascus
But then a light from the Lord shown then he asked this?
Why do you persecute me? You know that it’s backwards
He tried to gain the favor of God by obeying the law
But failed to realize he was a hater of God
His name was once Saul but God changed it to Paul
He had blinders on but God was taking them off
He was once blind but his sight regained and he saw
The grace of our God so His greatness He awed
God uttered and proclaimed he would suffer for His name
They were beating him with rods and then clubbing at his brain
He counted all as loss because nothing else remained
Apart from knowing Christ because something in Him changed
He was hungering in pain, in the thunder and the rain
In the dungeon and in chains in abundance of much strain
He was whipped 39 times, five times
That’s one hundred and ninety five times for the divine shine
Also taught humility by his thorn in the flesh
And anxiety almost wore him to death
So be humble like Kendrick, and don’t trust in aesthetics
And take none of the credit, because the Son is who gets it
You wanna rob His glory you could run for the exit
Because He died for our sins to the Son we’re indebted
So stop boasting again and be opposing your sin
And draw closer to Him in devotion my friend
The victory is ours man we know we will win (That’s right)
He’ll exult us, if not now, at the close and the end (He will)
So be mourning and weeping in the morning and evening
In all four of the seasons, He gives glorious freedom
He’s forgiving our treason, the Lord we will see Him
And the gospel is the greatest story’s the reason
